Vinh Nghiem Pagoda

Starting…

Be a young monk at Vinh Nghiem Pagoda (339 Nam Ky Khoi Nghia, Ho Chi Minh City): the three-way gate, the courtyard, the white Quan Am, the main hall over its ground floor, the seven-storey Quan The Am tower and the stone tower. Walk the temple, sit on a cushion, make 108 prostrations, count prayer beads, strike the wooden fish, listen to chanting, birds and wind. Visitors who are here at the same time are present together, without chat.

What is an online temple visit?

Viet Nam Tu rebuilds Vietnamese pagodas in 3D so that anyone far away, unwell or without the chance to go can visit a temple online: walk the grounds, enter the main hall, bow, recite, strike the wooden fish and offer incense.

Buddha recitation: sit on a cushion, count 108 prayer beads with "Namo Amitabha Buddha", keep the rhythm on the wooden fish or listen to chanting.

Prostrations: go to a cushion in the main hall and press Bow to begin 108 full prostrations; a counter keeps your daily total.

This is a simulated space to encourage practice; it does not replace visiting a real temple and learning from monks and nuns.

The architecture is an illustrative model built in code. Map: © OpenStreetMap contributors (ODbL). Sounds: kevp888 (Freesound, CC BY 4.0); tec_studio, jonopodmore (CC0), BambooBeast (public domain).
