Terms & Privacy

Updated 6 November 2026.

How Viet Nam Tu (vietnamtu.com) handles data and the rules of the online temple. Ticking "I agree" when you create your character means you have read and accepted this page.

1. Privacy

There are no accounts; we never ask for a phone number, email address or ID.

The site is always served over HTTPS.

We do not sell, rent or share your data with third parties, and the site carries no third-party advertising or tracking code.

Data is disclosed to competent authorities only on a lawful request under Vietnamese law.

2. Your data

Kept in your own browser (localStorage), not sent to our server:

While you are in a temple, the presence server receives and relays to the people in your room: your name, appearance, position and what your character is doing. It is kept in server memory only while you are connected.

Incense you offer is stored on the server (burner, position, time) so everyone can see it, without your name, and is removed when it has burnt out.

Like any website, the server and hosting providers may keep short-lived technical logs (IP address, browser type, time) to run the service and stop abuse.

To delete the data on your device, clear the site data of vietnamtu.com in your browser. For questions about server data, write to t3bgroup@gmail.com; we reply within 7 working days.

3. Payments and donations

Viet Nam Tu is completely free: no virtual items for sale, no payments and no donations through the site.

Viet Nam Tu is not a religious organisation or a charity and does not collect offerings for any real temple. Anyone asking for money in our name is not us.

If paid features or donations are ever added, this page will be updated before they go live.

4. Rules

Be respectful to the Three Jewels, to other faiths and to the other visitors.

No bots, no attacks or overloading, no exploiting bugs.

Offenders may be disconnected or blocked from the presence server without notice.

There is no chat and no free-text name field: a deliberate choice to keep the space peaceful.

5. About online practice

Viet Nam Tu is a simulated space to encourage a habit of practice. It is not a religious institution and does not replace practising at a temple.

Bowing, counting beads, striking the wooden fish and offering incense on screen are simulations; the counters only help you follow your own habit. What matters is living more gently after the screen is off.

It can help people who live far away, are unwell or cannot go to a temple. When you can, visit a temple and learn from monks and nuns with the community.

Practise in a quiet place, silence notifications and avoid long screen time, especially before sleep.

6. Content, sources and copyright

Architecture, statues and landscape are illustrative computer models, not exact copies. Viet Nam Tu is not affiliated with or endorsed by the temples it depicts.

Map: © OpenStreetMap contributors (ODbL). Sounds: kevp888 (Freesound, CC BY 4.0); tec_studio, jonopodmore (CC0); BambooBeast (public domain). Some statue models were made with Tencent Hunyuan3D under the Tencent Hunyuan Community License.

Historical notes in the temples cite press sources; notes without a source are marked as illustrative and unverified.

The 3D models, reconstructed architecture, images and code of Viet Nam Tu are its copyright. Downloading, extracting, copying, modifying or reusing them without written permission is not allowed. The models carry a copyright notice and an identifying mark that proves their origin; infringements will be taken down under the law.

7. Children

The site is suitable for all ages and collects no identifying information. Young children should use it with a parent or adult.

8. Contact and changes
